Mission Statement
The Law Office of Lopez & Mohammed, originally known as Lopez & Affiliates, Ltd., has been serving the Elgin and Chicago area since 1998. Our mission and philosophy is simple; we are a neighborhood law office dedicated to providing quality legal access to the community. We pride ourselves on helping those who may normally not have the resources to hire a private attorney for their legal needs. We firmly believe that competent legal advocacy should not be a privilege for the few but a right for all. We want our communities to know that should it ever become necessary to seek out legal advice or assistance, do not hesitate to call us. If we cannot help you with your problem we will find someone who will and who shares in our philosophy.

Sal is the founder of the firm and has guided the firm since day #1. He settled on the Elgin area after realizing that the growing Hispanic population was underserved when it came to legal representation. He then expanded the firm to Chicago and currently runs the Chicago branches of the Law Office of Lopez & Mohammed. Sal has vast experience in the fields of criminal, family and real estate law having conducted several bench and jury trials and been involved in thousands or real estate closings. Sal is also experienced in litigating personal injury and medical malpractice claims. Sal is bilingual in Spanish and English and is available for appointments 7 days a week. Sal is licensed to practice law in Illinois and before the Northern District Court of Illinois.
Adil Mohammed, ESQ.

Adil came on board in 2005 and became partner in 2007 to form the Law office of Lopez & Mohammed and currently runs the Elgin Office. Adil has vast experience in all aspects of criminal law after having served as a prosecutor in Essex County, New Jersey. In addition Adil gained invaluable civil experience working for a prominent complex litigation firm in New Jersey. His practice now includes criminal and civil litigation, bankruptcy, personal injury and medical malpractice. He is available seven days a week for appointments. Adil is fluent in Urdu and proficient in Spanish. Adil is licensed to practice law in Illinois, New Jersey and the Northern District Court of Illinois.
Criminal/Traffic/DUI
This practice area has been the best of our firm. We have represented clients in all types of criminal matters from class X felonies to petty offenses. Additionally our traffic and DUI practice consists of protecting and securing driving privileges for individuals facing suspensions, revocations or trying to reestablish their ability to drive. Both partners have many years of experience in this field having represented thousands of clients and conducted hundreds of trials.
Bankruptcy
The firm represents individuals in the filing of Chapter 7 & 13 bankruptcy petitions. Due to the recent change in the bankruptcy laws there has been confusion and misunderstanding amongst the general public as to whether bankruptcy protection is a feasible option. This misunderstanding and the exodus of many experienced practitioners from the field due to the change in law has caused even more confusion for people seeking answers. Lopez & Mohammed’s bankruptcy practice started at the time when the change in bankruptcy laws took affect which has enabled us to provide sound advice to those looking for answers to their bankruptcy questions. Initial consultations are free and in most cases we can tell the client at this initial interview what type of petition would be best for them and if they qualify for relief. We are a debt relief agency under the United States Bankruptcy Code.
